2nd Year Performance analysis

On Wednesday 7th December, I went to see 'Unwritten' Dance company and their choreographer Andrea Buckley, one of the three companies performing as part of the 'Forward in Motion' festival.

The show began with a solo called 'Walking Within', performed by Andrea Buckley, who was  later joined by Kayte Coe. She was accompanied by music (by Jamie Mcarthy) and a film (by Dan Williams) of the sea played on a screen in the back right corner. The impression that i got that the performers were demostrating the movement of waves, coming backwards and forwards from the shore. I found the piece interesting to begin with, but then felt like it was starting to lag towards the end.

'Shifting Time' was choreographed by Andrea Buckley. There were many points in the piece that i found to be difficult to understand, since there was alot going simultaneously. However, i did enjoy the dancers moved with and around each other, as if they were presenting how time was progressing. What i didn't understand the most was the end of the piece, where a load of objects were placed along the back wall in a diagonal line, but i thought i would make a very mnice picture for an abstract piece of art.
